George Bernard Shaw 1856-1950 Irish playwright. Nobel Prize in Literature, 1925. Oscar for “Pygmalion” (from whence came My Fair Lady).  Credited with introducing political and moral issues tempered with humor, into his plays, in order to make the subject matter more palatable. As a long time member of the Fabian Society, he undertook the exploitation of the working class and equality as themes in his drama.
