American Garden’s guiding Design Concept for renewal is introduced by Hawken Middle Schoolers
The American Garden was built in the 1930’s with pennies from Cleveland school children. Hawken Middle School elected by continue that delightful tradition some years ago by adopting the American Cultural Garden when no one else would bother with it. It was to the applause of all when Hawken just announced a Master Conceptual Plan for the Garden which will guide them going forward as they work to restore and improve the Garden. While it will take years of fund raising and efforts, it is a seminal event in the American Garden’s history. See the attached three images of the Plan which was put together with much effort in the Garden’s community, especially with Michael White school nearby, the Hawken community and with the technical assistance of Dorer & Associates landscape architects.
