Finnish Cultural Garden’s 2009 Activities Report

For the Finnish Garden, the main 2009 events and milestones were:
- Three (3) garden clean-up & maintenance days were organized; 2 in the spring and 1 in the fall to plant new bulbs
- The primary delegate (Olli Patrikainen) was interviewed by CSU for the oral history project
- Proposal for restoration of Snellman and Runeberg busts was received from Light Sculpture Works
- Fundraising for restoration of Snellman and Runeberg busts was finalized with a grant from Finland Society and contribution match provided by Holden Trust
- An agreement was reached with Finnish Heritage Museum of Fairport Harbor to provide long-term storage for plasters once they are released by City of Cleveland
For 2010, key goals are to:
- Continue regular clean-up and maintenance work done by 10+ volunteers
- Plant new flowers and plants according to a new plan that is currently being worked on together with Roemer Nurseries from Lake County
- Complete the Snellman and Runeberg bust restoration
