Croatian Garden

Dedicated on June 3, 2012 the Garden extends from East Blvd to MLK Jr. Drive.  Phase I of the Garden is now in place.  Features Croatian-Cleveland sculptor, Joseph Turkaly’s Immigrant Mother statue in a Licitar or heart shaped plaza wreathed with red roses and white flowers, benches of intensely white Brac stone, and a Slapovi Krke-like water course coming down the hillside.  The Immigrant Mother’s base illustrates prominent Croatian designs (Grb, Pleter, and Glagolitic script) as well as sculpture dedication.  Phase II will feature other notable Croatian sites/sights along the hillside and Phase III on the East Blvd level will also have a plaza, but this time surrounded by busts of prominent Croatian cultural figures.  See the notes for the Gardens art work for details on the forgoing features in Phase I.
