Threshold Stone

Garden Name: Irish Garden

Date: 1970

Artist: N/A

Large, thick and incised, sandstone paver block at the northern entrance to the core of the Irish Garden. Text reads: DO CUM GLORIE DE AGUS ONORA NA HEIREANN Irish Cultural Garden October 29, 1939 English translation: “For the glory of God and the Honor of Ireland”. Due to the wear on the stone and its location it appears to have been in the Garden from shortly after the dedication. Actual date is unknown. It is not covered in the detailed stonework plans by Donald Gray who designed.
